Gérard and Isabelle, meet up again after 30 years for a tragic event: the death of their son Michael. The young man committed suicide in the apartment he occupied with his boyfriend in San Francisco. But Michael hoped to have his father and mother reunite with him after his death. He wrote each one a letter asking them to take a seven-day journey through Death Valley. Both letters promise the same thing: Michael will return the week of November 12 in one of seven places in this valley. Although Isabelle may be convinced her son will return as he says, Gerard is perplexed. Especially when a medical appointment forces him to leave a day earlier than expected.
