Dan Landsman (Jack Black), who was never the cool guy growing up, travels from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles on a mission to change that, by convincing Oliver Lawless (James Marsden), the most popular guy in high school, to show up with him to their 20-year class reunion. Dan thinks the high school reunion will be successful if only he can get Oliver to RSVP. Dan goes on quite the adventure to L.A. in order to get Oliver to agree to make an appearance. When Oliver actually shows up, Dan has an unexpected reaction.
