It’s the end of WWII and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a combat nurse, is finally reunited with her husband, Frank Randall, who’s fascinated by history. One day when he’s busy with work, she goes back to visit some ancient stone circles and after walking through them, suddenly finds herself in 1743, in the middle of a battle. Rescued from her husband’s evil ancestor Jack Randall by the MacKenzie clan, she’s taken in by them but they refuse to let her go, believing she may be an English spy. When her path crosses with Jack Randall again, the MacKenzies marry her to Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, to save her from being turned over to Randall.
