From the beginnings of his popularity to the years before his death, Marlon Brando produced, for his own benefit, in complete privacy, hundreds of hours of audio recordings. They constitute a sort of diary, recording his hopes and regrets. From his first meeting with famed acting coach Stella Adler at the Actor’s Studio to family tragedies that took the lives of two of his children, these records paint a unique portrait of the star of A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, The Godfather and Last Tango in Paris. They also reflect his visions of his art, his feelings about fame, his political beliefs and how he lived the ups and downs of his tumultuous life.
