With only 12 percent of their students passing the standard tests, Jules Ferry Secondary School is by far the worst in France. Having exhausted all the conventional means to raise the standards of the school, even hiring the best teachers available, the principal has no choice but to take his deputy’s advice. With the school administrator warning that the grades of the student body have to increase by 50 percent in the next term or the school will be shut down, he hires the worst teachers he can find, hoping that the worst pupils will be able to learn from them.
