Thirty years ago, eighteen-year-old Steve Fonyo ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Steve, who had himself lost a leg to cancer, became a national celebrity and was awarded the Order of Canada. Since then, his life has been far from perfect. He spiralled downwards into substance abuse and petty crime, behaviour which led the government to remove him from the Order of Canada. Publicly disgraced, he now lives outside of Whalley B.C. and is struggling to rebuild his toppled life.
