Laura (Evan Rachel Wood) has always had trouble finding a partner due to her own dark past. Childhood abuse and several failed relationships have made her bitter and insecure. One day she meets 16-year-old Eva (Julia Sarah Stone), who has issues with her mother. Eva and Laura start growing closer and Laura becomes obsessed with Eva. She convinces Eva to leave her home and run away with her. Thus begins a messy and tangled affair that spirals out of control.
